What to Expect as Our Guest (F.A.Q.)
Frequently Asked Questions
Below are some of the more common questions our guests have about Kneaded Relief and what you should expect as our guest.
What should I wear when receiving a massage treatment?
When receiving a massage, it is best to undress to your comfort level. Therapists at all times will properly drape the linens so that all parts of the body are correctly covered. Only the body part that they will be working on will be uncovered.
What should I do before I come in for a treatment (excluding nail and waxing services)?
Before a treatment, you want to make sure to increase your water intake. Water will help the body naturally flush out toxins and allow your muscles the ability to relax easier. Also, you want to eat a lighter meal and make sure to arrive 30 minutes before your service begins so that you have plenty of time to start the relaxation process, change into a robe and sandals and relax in our relaxation retreat.
Why do I have to fill out paperwork before a service at Kneaded Relief?
All services at Kneaded Relief do require a level of paperwork to be filled out. Because of the nature of the services the therapists need to know any previous/current medical history as well as specifics in regards to what the therapist will be working on. At Kneaded Relief, we want to help you to the best of our ability and the more information we have the better we can help you achieve whatever goal you have when you come on in. Click here to download a PDF of our client form. We do also ask that you complete a new form if it has been a year since your last visit and/or if there is a change in your health history.
Why do I have to arrive 30 minutes before my appointment time?
If you are a new guest or have not been to the spa in over a year, we do ask that you arrive 30 min early to complete all paperwork, receive a tour of the spa to become acquainted with our space, change into a robe and sandals if you choose as well as relax in our relaxation retreat before your service begins. If you have been to the spa within the last year, we still recommend you arrive early so you can get checked in on time, change into a robe and sandals if you choose and get some downtime before your service begins.
How long can I stay after my service?
As long as the spa is open, you are welcome to enjoy our relaxation retreat, take a shower in our locker room or take a nap on the couch!
What is your cancellation policy?
We ask for a 24-hour cancellation for Monday – Thursday appointments. For Friday – Sunday appointments and all packages, we ask for a 48-hour cancellation.
What is the difference between relaxation and therapeutic massage?
Relaxation massage is designed to relax your mind and body. It will include long relaxing strokes with some friction and kneading techniques. Typically called a Swedish massage and depending on the therapist can include light to firm pressure. Therapeutic massage utilizes Deep Tissue massage techniques (not to be confused with Deep PRESSURE) aimed to address therapeutic concerns, injury treatment and releasing chronic tension patterns. It will include slow, deep strokes, compression and trigger point release. Please specify if you have a particular pressure you prefer and/or if you prefer a male or female therapist.
How do I know which facial treatment is best for me?
If you would like to receive a facial at Kneaded Relief but are unsure of which one to choose we would recommend to come in and receive a free 15 minute consultation with one of our estheticians before you book the facial. They will look over the skin and together you can decide what facial would work best for the results you are looking to achieve.
Can I call if I have questions after my service? Who do I speak with?
At Kneaded Relief we welcome all calls concerning your service. Our Guest Service Representatives can answer most questions, but if they feel that a therapist or a manager could better answer your question, they will direct you to the appropriate person.
Do I need to bring in swimwear to wear during a hydro service?
All hydro units are completely private and cleaned/sanitized after each use, so you are welcome to bring a swimsuit but it is not a necessity.
If I’m scheduling a nail service and I have a cut, plantar wart or nail fungus, do I need to let you know?
Yes. Because of State of WI guidelines, we are unable to provide nail services to anyone suffering or suspected of suffering from a nail fungus. Depending on the severity of the cut and/or plantar wart, we may still be able to perform the service sans water.
If I am pregnant, should I tell the Guest Services Representative on the phone?
Yes. Services usually have to either be modified or unfortunately not performed if a client is in their 1st trimester of pregnancy. Once the client is in their 2nd or 3rd trimester more services become available for the client to do but still must be modified due to new physical adjustments made throughout the pregnancy. If the Guest Service Rep is aware of the pregnancy, they are able to suggest services for you and give the therapist the correct amount of time for the service.
Why must I be in my 2nd trimester to receive a massage?
During your 1st trimester your body is still adjusting to the pregnancy and the risks associated are greater. Once in your 2nd trimester, your risks lower and massage therapy is a great option to help relieve your body of the stress and tension that comes with your body carrying a baby. We do provide side-lying massage for pregnant women or have the option of using a prego pillow. The pillow allows the guest to lay on their stomach in a specialized pillow without putting pressure on the stomach. We recommend that you specify your preference when scheduling a pregnancy massage.
When receiving a waxing service are there any medications I should avoid?
Clients taking Accutane cannot receive waxing. Those using Retin-A, Renova or other AHA’s should discontinue use for 48 hours prior to receiving any waxing treatments. If these medications are used and not discontinued before a waxing service, lifting of the skin can occur.
How can I receive your email specials?
To sign up for email specials give us a call at 608-255-0070 and speak with one of our Guest Service Representatives or to be added to our email list for our last minute specials and/or monthly newsletter. Scroll to the bottom of this page to enter your email address.
Should I leave a tip for my therapist? How much is customary for a tip?
Tips are always appreciated but never expected. If you would like to leave a tip we give the suggestion to use the same tipping method as you would at a restaurant.
What if I need to use the restroom during my massage?
If you do need to use the restroom, please just let your therapist know and they will give you a robe to change in to and direct you to the restroom. We want you to be able to fully relax and if this or anything else arises then please just let your therapist know.
Why am I offered a pair of spa sandals to wear when I am at Kneaded Relief?
We would like to give you the best experience possible at Kneaded Relief and to take off your shoes and slip into comfy spa sandals helps with that experience. We also want to prevent loud shoes from interrupting others relaxation while in a service.
Do I need to change into a robe for my service?
If you are receiving multiple services, it is best to change into one of our robes. We do have lockers provided for your belongings in our locker room. If you are only receiving one service, we leave that choice up to you. Some guests prefer to simply change in the treatment room whereas others prefer to enjoy their relaxing experience in one of our comfy robes.
Should I take my make-up off before I receive a facial?
It is not necessary to take your make-up off before a facial. Our Estheticians will take your make-up off as part of the service.
