Esthetics Department Manager, WI Licensed Esthetician
Hello, I am Melissa Hoefling. I have been with Kneaded Relief since 2000. I graduated from Martin’s College of Cosmetology in 1999, earning a License of Esthetics. I started working as an esthetician in my hometown of Green Bay, Wisconsin. Then I decided it was time to step outside of my hometown and experience Madison. Kneaded Relief has been the only spa I have worked at since I moved here. You may ask yourself, why? The reason is Kneaded Relief has a great team and a welcoming atmosphere.
Throughout the years, I have expanded my knowledge by taking classes at the Conservatory of Esthetics, now known as, the Bioelements Learning Center and by studying and discovering new information and techniques in my field of practice. In every treatment I provide, my goal is to teach the importance of skin care and to customize an everyday regimen for each individual’s specific needs. I also would like to help each individual relax, by finding their inner peace so they can leave the stress of everyday life behind them. I look forward to seeing you soon!
When I turned 40 I decided to get more serious about taking care of my skin. Kneaded Relief was close to my house so I wanted to give it a try. I was randomly matched to Melissa and am forever grateful. From my first facial appointment I could tell she would teach me a lot about caring for my skin. She made a point to share what she noticed, positive and negative, and gave me simple and practical advise to continue with home care. I look forward to returning every six to eight weeks to experience her professional care. Thank you Melissa for helping me have a more positive relationship with my skin. It was a long time coming.”
WI Licensed Esthetician
Hello Everyone! My name is Nicki Neal and I am one of the Estheticians here at Kneaded Relief. We welcome you and hope you feel at home!
My journey began with makeup when I was just a little girl. I loved playing around with different colors and shades and seeing how those colors looked paired with one another. As I went through my high school years I started trying different looks on my friends. My friends started coming to me to do their makeup before we would go to events like prom and homecoming. I began to realize the passion I had for makeup and loved how I could enhance someone’s natural beauty and I truly enjoyed how it made them feel.
My path took me down a number of roads ranging from being a Nanny to being the Executive Assistant to the CEO of a water park resort in Wisconsin Dells. During these travels and experiences, I was always looking for that one thing in life that would make me feel complete in terms of my career. All the time never giving much thought to pursue my passion of makeup and skin. I started attending college for Business Management and quickly realized that this was not the path I wanted to take. I started looking at other options and came across Panache Beauty Academy. I inquired for more information and before I knew it I was enrolled to become a licensed Esthetician.
During my time at Panache I realized that my passion stretched beyond makeup. I was learning a great deal more than I had ever imagined and fell in love with skin care as a whole. I couldn’t get enough information and wanted to be able to help people feel great and look great. This is where my journey truly became what it is today. Not only was I able to go to school for something I loved but I found that my love for skin could help so many people in so many different ways. I found great joy in working with people who I could help.
I started working for a spa in Wisconsin Dells shortly after graduating. I eventually became the lead Esthetician of the spa and was getting to spread my knowledge to clients and other Estheticians. Just recently my family and I decided to move to Madison Wisconsin. In doing so, I wanted to join a spa that could help take me to the next level in my career. A spa that was viewed highly by the community and they were treated like family. I was fortunate enough to become an Esthetician at Kneaded Relief and have this great spa be the next chapter of my journey.
I welcome you and your family to be a part of our family. I want nothing more than to share my passion and knowledge with you.
I have received several facials around Madison and other spas on vacation, this was hands down the best experience I’ve had. The most relaxing too! I would highly recommend Nicki. She provides incredible service and I look forward to seeing her again! Very impressed with my experience at Kneaded Relief! 90 minutes of heaven. “
WI Licensed Esthetician and Make-up Artist
Hello there! My name is Mel and I am an Esthetician here at Kneaded Relief.
My journey into esthetics started with my love of makeup artistry. Makeup artistry has been a passion of mine since I was a little girl. I remember going to family gatherings and I would be the only person my age, around 10 years old, wearing red lipstick and blush. As I got older, my passion for makeup artistry only grew stronger and I knew it was what I wanted to pursue as my career (aside from singing, dancing and being famous).
After graduating high school in 2002, I spent time working in an assisted living home and as a bartender/server. As soon as the opportunity presented itself, I took a position in a makeup/skincare department at a local department store. That is when I fell in love with skincare! For a few years, I managed a makeup and skincare line, but decided I wanted to try a spa setting. After doing that for a few years, I knew I needed to go back to school to acquire my license in esthetics, but going back to school was very scary! In 2012, I decided it was finally time—no more waiting!!! I attended the VICI Aveda Institute in Milwaukee, WI and graduated in December of 2012.
The world of esthetics is my life. I would not be happy doing anything else. I love coming to work and feeling like its not actually work, simply because I love what I do! I truly enjoy helping people, in any capacity, and that is why I am here. I’m here to help guide you to where you want to be with your skincare. I am a very compassionate person and I care deeply about each of my clients. When my clients are happy, I’m happy!
If you have any questions, please ask! I am here to help and will do everything I can to ensure you leave very happy! Welcome to Kneaded Relief! I can’t wait to meet your smiling face!
Treatments with Mel are always the best! Her attention to every detail and my experience is always so appreciated. She keeps me coming back for more!”
WI Licensed Esthetician
Hi! My name is Kelsey and I am an Esthetician at Kneaded Relief. Being born and raised in the suburbs of Chicago, I never imagined myself living in Wisconsin. Moving to a place where I had no family or friends was never a part of what I had planned for my life, but it turned out to be one of the greatest things I have ever done for myself.
I first entered the spa industry in 2014 working as a front desk receptionist at a spa while still living in Chicago. During that time, I was attending college part time to initially major in interior design, which quickly changed to nursing, which then changed again to ultrasound technology (clearly, I had no idea what I wanted for myself at that time). After having my first facial at the spa I worked at and working more closely with the skin care products we offered there, it all clicked. Skin care was a passion I wanted to turn into a career.
During the summer of 2014, my fiancé got a new job that required him to move to Wisconsin. I remember the day we were looking for an apartment for him in Madison vividly because we drove past Kneaded Relief and I jokingly said, “I’m going to work there when I move here!” My fiancé moved and I stayed in Chicago to focus on finishing my degree (my final major was art, after all that switching). In May of 2015, I decided to apply at Kneaded Relief for a Guest Service position with the intentions of becoming an esthetician in the future. Once I was hired, everything started falling into place. I moved to Madison and had this awesome job where I was surrounded by people who were incredibly passionate about their careers, which was so inspiring to me.
I worked in Guest Services for about two years until I finally pushed myself to pursue my dreams and attend school for esthetics. I graduated from The Salon Professional Academy in July of 2017. I cannot believe I did not do this sooner, because I am happier than I have ever been and I am so grateful to be a part of Kneaded Relief’s team.
My main goal as an esthetician is for my clients to feel beautiful in their own skin. I look forward to working with you and creating a routine that will lead to healthy, beautiful skin!
She was knowledgeable and demonstrated her skills. Kelsey was awesome and made my facial very relaxing.”
WI Licensed Esthetician
Hello! My name is Lonnie and I am one of the Estheticians here at Kneaded Relief.
Just like most of my wonderful colleagues, my interest in skin care started at home as a young girl. I was endlessly fascinated with my mother’s make-up and high heels. My mom was always preaching the importance of taking care of your skin since her passion in life was to fight the signs of aging skin every day.
I came late into the professional world of skin care, finally going back to school at Aveda and graduating in 2016. The push to go to Esthetics school came from my best friend who had been an Esthetician for many years. I had begun my apprenticeship with her several years prior to my formal schooling.
She taught me about the many treatments offered on the medical side of esthetics. I then realized that skin care was my passion also and decided to finally make the time to go to school. While in school I soon realized that educating my clients about their skin and providing a relaxing environment was more my speed and not the more sterile side of medical esthetics.
On the advice from another friend I applied to work at Kneaded Relief because they had a stellar reputation and were the best spa in Madison. And voila`, here I am. I can truly say that I am so happy and blessed to work in such a welcoming place doing exactly what I was born to do.
Cannot say enough – felt totally taken care of and rejuvenated. Very knowledgeable and very professional. She seemed very experienced and confident.”
WI Licensed Esthetician
Hello everyone, and welcome to Kneaded Relief!
My name is Laura, and I have been licensed Cosmetology-Esthetician for over 25 years. I grew up in a tiny river town near La Crosse WI and moved to Madison in the late 80s to earn a degree in English Literature at UW-Madison and a Cosmetology degree from IBA Beauty College. Although I dabbled as a freelance writer for a while, it was my love of esthetics that called to me and I eventually made a career of.
My deep interest in skincare and makeup began when I was a teen. I was that stereotypical, disconsolate teenager who battled acne and wasted too much time trying to treat or hide it with DIY concoctions to no avail. Thankfully the esthetics landscape has become much more advanced since the days of steaming your face over a pot of boiling water on the stove! In any case, this early obsession with my pores led me to a gratifying career of peering into others’ pores as a skincare professional.
I spent the first part of my career working downtown Chicago in upscale salons and spas, where clients would come seeking nurturing and stillness, and later medical spas, where more aggressive therapies were used to treat the skin under the guidance of a plastic surgeon or other physicians. I can say I’ve witnessed many incredible evolutions in the skincare industry, from the time-honored Mint Julep masks of the 80s, to Chemical peels, lasers, injectables and Vampire facials of today. As I always say, “we are in a good age to be aging in,” with all the advanced technology in the industry to give us younger, healthier looking skin!
I moved back to Madison from Chicago over a decade ago, and eventually found my home here at Kneaded Relief. I now reside on a 6 generation Dairy Farm in New Glarus with my farmer-husband and hundreds of Brown Swiss Cows. While I do miss the ebullition and glamour of Michigan Ave, I truly love all the natural beauty of WI. With the abundance of lakes, running trails, bike paths, and so many places with sylvan charm to escape to like the surroundings of Kneaded Relief! I’m happy to find my Happy Place.
